I noticed on a baptism record at St Patricks RC church in Collyhurst Manchester that the parents marital status is recorded as 'conj' .
I presume this is abbreviated from 'conjugal' . Does this mean the parents haven't been officially married. The parents had 3 children baptised in Ireland with no mention of their marital status prior to this baptism . I have not yet been able to find a marriage record.

I understand it to mean married. Also conjux = wife and conjus = husband.
