    Default MARDEN or SICKEL?

    One for the sleuths:

HENRY JAMES MARDEN, a baker by trade, enlisted in the ASC on 1 Nov 1915 and served until 1919.
Declared age 36 years 2 months, born Hastings.
    Home address: East Dulwich.
Married spinster ELIZABETH MIRIAN (registered as MARIAN) MUNDIN at Hatcham Park, 12 August 1907.
Children (all registered as MARDEN, mmn MUNDIN):
    - Henry William 1900
    - George James 1902
    - Lilla Mirian 1904
    - Elizabeth Florence 1912.

Query 1 - the marriage (Q3 1907 Greenwich) is registered as SICKEL, Henry James M.

Query 2 - there are 2 possible births:
    - MARDEN, Henry James (Q2 1880 Islington)
    - SICKEL, Henry James (Q3 1879 Hastings)

On demob, he gave his address as Swindon, Wilts, and in June 1919 his wife (still in London) told the army he was living with another woman in Swindon.

Could the 2 births be the same man? Possibly born SICKEL in Hastings 1879, then his mother re-marries and re-registers him as MARDEN in London 1880? (Mothers' maiden names differ - MARTIN & MORGAN)

I'm not related, so no inclination to buy certificates.
    Can anyone solve?

There’s a baptism for a Henry James Marden April 1880 Islington.

    Father: Henry Marden
    Mother: Maria Marden

I think the ‘other’Henry James has a very confusing Sickle/Marden/Martin family as there are other births both Hastings & London!

The Medal Rolls Index has 2 Henry James Mardens.
Yours, in the ASC, has the service number 145324
The second, in the Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regt, number G/8592. His records don't seem to have survived. I wonder whether he's the one in #3.

No hits on Henry Sickel. Neither Marden is in the CWGC so they both probably survived.

Is it possible that Marden is a corruption of Martin, his mother's maiden name?
