    Default MAIDEN William Arthur 1894-1916 - WW1

Mis-filed (and indexed) as MARDEN in the WW1 Service Records (WO 363), this man didn't make it any easier for descendants to find him - he served as ARTHUR (so his medals will have been issued as A MAIDEN).

William Arthur MAIDEN enlisted on 14 September 1914 and was killed in action in 1916. Served with the KLR (Kings Liverpool), Pte 17664.
    Declared age 21y 104d (Birth registered Q3 1894 Wirral).
    Born Willaston, near Chester.

    Home: Willaston
Parents: Enoch (deceased by July 1919) & Elizabeth (nee Cottrell)
    Brothers: Albert (c1882), John (c1884) & Bertie (c1898).
Sisters: Minnie PUGH (c1880), Lilian MANNING (c1888), Bessie BARKER? (c1890) & Florrie (c1892)

Medals listed under Arthur Maiden. 15 Star, Victory & British. Qualified for medals on 7 Nov 1915, which must be when he reached France.
He's also listed as Arthur in "Soldiers who died". It doesn't add much - Enlisted in Liverpool. KIA on 30 Jul 1916.
CWGC also lists him as Arthur. They add that he was with 2 Coy. 19th Btn. and is on the Thiepval Memorial. Only mention his mother, Elizabeth, and give her address.
