    Rusty, the answer to message 10 is nearly the same as to message #2.
    The only difference is that because he did not survive, a little information can be found on the CWGC site. Apart from what you have quoted, it gives his parents and wife, and the cemetery and grave number in Germany where he is buried.
    Another place to look would be the local papers around the time he died. There should be a museum/archive for the Shropshires (most of the regiments have merged now, but there should be one covering them.

    He could well have served in WWI but not go out of training in the UK in time to see active service abroad, if so and if his were amongst the 70% of service records lost then he'll have no record at all (no medals if you didn't go abroad).
    I'd advise anyone thinking of applying to the MOD to hold off for at least 6 months if not a year currently, as they have had severe problems and have a massive backlog (1 yr minimum).
