Looking for any information on Archie Grayling from Eastbourne , was married to Constance and had 2 daughters Constance and Irene. We know he served in the pioneer corps but cant find any info on him or his military records any help , info or advice is welcome

Archie was not born until 1910 and married Constance in 1933 so his military records would be for WW2.

Service records for personnel who served after 1921 are still held by the Ministry of Defence. You need to send a cheque for thirty pounds and a copy of his death certificate.
Archie's death was registered in Eastbourne registraion district in March quarter 1962.

First, a very warm welcome to Brit-gen.
I appreciate your enquiry relates to Archie's wartime record but casting around I found one of the oddest newspaper reports I can recall. It involved an Archie Grayling of 17 Hamden Avenue, Hamden Park and appeared in the Eastbourne Herald, 2 April 1949. With him was a Percy Charman of 3 Belle Vue Road. It involved "safety Week" in the town and the pair were painting footprints on the pavement to direct people to street crossings.

Does the Hamden Avenue address ring a bell?

Thank you for your welcome and yes Hamden avenue is the correct one for Archie . Im desperately trying to find out about his military history as we have a pic of him in his military uniform BUT we cant work out what the cap badge is . He was either Labour corps or Pioneer corps and there is some memory ( rightly or wrongly ) of him being in the Home guard .
