    Byles being quite an unusual name in Leicester I wondered if the Elizabeth Ann b 1869 could possibly be the daughter of Sarah Ann Byles who married Thomas Smitten in 1870 born before the marriage. The couple have a daughter Elizabeth Ann Smitten in the 1871, 1881 and 1891 censuses.

    In 1901 she is with the family as Elizabeth A Halladay.

    Looks as though Elizabeth Smitten ( poss atually Byles?)had an illegitimate son Percy b 1889.
