    My husband's grandmother has one birth date on the 1939 register and a different birth date on her birth certificate. When he did a DNA test on Ancestry it became apparent that his grandmother was not the daughter of her mother's husband and the two birth dates must relate to this, although I don't know how.

    Got the certificate today. The date of birth was the same as the 1939 register (16th Sep, 1887), but the date of registration was in November, and so now all makes sense. Thanks everyone!
