Default EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS - EVERYONE PLEASE READ

It has recently been discovered that people are no longer receiving email notifications when further posts are made in a thread which they have either started or to which they have contributed. It is believed that the problem may go as far back as 10th September, though this obviously applies to any thread begun since the forum started. e.g. if I'd started a thread in 2006 and helachau posted a reply on 2 January this year, I would not have received an email advising me of his post.

To check if this affects any threads to which you've contributed, either as the initiator or replier, in the top banner, click on 'Quick links', and then from the dropdown menu select 'Subscribed threads'.
Click on any one of those threads, and then click on your username. There you will see 'Find latest posts' and 'Find latest started threads'. Depending on how prolific a poster you are you will not necessarily find all your posts going back to when you joined the forum, but you should find the more recent ones.

It does mean that, for the present, you will need to check for yourself if further replies have been made to any threads in which you have an interest. Whilst the mods have a certain amount of fairy dust which works magic on minor problems, we haven't sadly got the sackfuls needed to deal with major technical issues such as this one.

Unfortunately we can't say how long the fault will take to fix.

    ADDED:
    Passwords
We have now been advised that the system is refusing to reply to 'forgotten password' requests, so whatever you do
    do not forget your password!

I requested a password notification, but no such email landed in my inbox to notify me to change my new password. I requested again, and still no notification.

Luckily I remembered my present password. Not sure if this is considered the same thing as your post suggests.

    Hi Steve,
it's not the same thing, but it is another thing in the 'no emails' glitch which I will report to Admin.
Thanks for telling of this. Don't suppose you can remember about how long ago you requested the new password, can you?

I have ticked the box ro recieve Admin notifications, and re-checked all other boxes that I require, or need.
I never got any notification of your reply either.

I should have received one as well, Lesley, but haven't.
