Hi
I have moved your post to a thread of its own in the WW11 forum.
Unfortunately the service records for those who served in WW11 are still held by the MoD. You can apply for them, this is the site where you can download the application forms. It will cost 30 pounds and you will be waiting for quite a long while before delivery. You do not need a regiment name or number but will need the correct date of birth and a copy of his death certificate.

You already have his UK, World War II Royal Artillery Tracer Card? There is more information on it than is shown in the transcription but a lot of it is army acronyms. This link has a list of acronyms,
Name: Derek Rodney Smith Enlistment Date: Feb 1947 Discharge Date: 19 Mar 1948 Regiment: Royal Artillery Military Unit: General Service Corps Service Number: 19140481 Sometimes paranoia is just having all the facts.
