    Default AUSTRALIAN JEWISH HISTORICAL SOCIETY

This new thread would be worth a 'sticky' by the moderators/administrators. The Australian Jewish Historical Society (AJHS) is an important online resource for those researchers seeking information on their Australian ancestors. The society has online access to over 72000 Australian and New Zealand Jewish burials plus Australian War graves covering over 300 burial sites. The data base has been developed from the original work of Beverley Davis and her collection of burial records. The data base is fully searchable.
The AJHS website also includes links to the Australian Jewish Genealogical site containing a searchable data base on 6746 Jewish marriages from 1832-1940. The records include bride/groom/location. The AJGS also have post 1940s records of marriages but these are restricted because of privacy.

The AJHS Cumulative Index of Journals from 1939-2010 contains hundreds of names linked to the various journal articles. There are further wide ranging references on the site and previous as well as current journals can be purchased.

The AJHS site also has a link to the New Zealand Jewish site which is not online at present due to development.

Having researched my own Anglo Jewish lines world wide for over twenty years and having Australian distant cousins this site has proved a great help filling in gaps in my research.
