    Default DUNN; GOURLAY Scotland

I am researching the lines of one of my paternal great grandfathers.

Great Grandfather is Seymour Gourlay Dunn. DOB 11 March 1882 Berwick, Midlothian Scotland. DOD 8 Jan 1959 Lake Placid, Essex, NY, USA

Father: Thomas Dunn DOB 1850 Musselburgh, Scotland, UK. DOD Apr 1902 England, UK.

Mother: Isabella Gourlay DOB 13 Jan 1852 Musselburgh, Scotland UK DOD 10 Jan 1929 California, USA

The Dunn family was famous in the professional golf world as professionals, equipment makers and the like. Seymour was a famous golf course designer.

The furthest back I have gotten on the Dunn line is Thomas Dunn DOB 1796 Scotland; DOD Oct 1888 Scotland.

The furthest back I have gotten on the Gourlay line is John Gourlay Sr 23 Jan 1701 24 Dec 1781.

    Hi Jessy,

THe surname interests thread is purely for posting your surnames, so I've moved this post to the general Scotland thread.

You're obviously more of an expert on Scottish research than I am, so I will leave any further assistance to others.

The parents of the Thomas Dunn in my last post married in the parish of Newton 18 November 1792, parish number 696 reference number 40 319.
Are you familiar with the pay per view site Scotlandspeople? You can search for free but need credits to download the record you want. The information recorded on marriage records can be very variable. See the guide to what information you can expect here.
