    Question Rev Robert Harry Wooldridge

The Rev Robert Wooldridge joined up in 1915 as Methodist Free Church Minister and i know he was mentioned in dispatches twice once in 1916 and once in 1917 and was awarded the MC in 1918 from his medal record and also from the Methodists Whos Who 1933. i would like to know if it is possible to find out what he was mentioned in Dispatches for and also what he did to be awarded the MC.

    Hello marilyn,

    Welcome to British-Genealogy.
If you came to us via Forces War Records, this will explain the connection.

In answer to your question, first of all, have a read of this.

I would also check out the newspapers local to where he and/or his parents lived. The papers may be online through the British Newspaper Archive. (Also available except for the latest updates on Findmypast.) Otherwise you will have to check out which archive/library has the papers for the relevant area.
