    Where have you looked?
I’d start with the 1911 census.
Then the marriage certificate should at least name his father... FreeBMD confirms the birth of Stanley Phillip Maynard in Ongar in 1905, so the birth certificate should provide the parents’ names.
Once you have the mother’s forename, her marriage certificate should provide her surname.

The GRO index site has the mother's maiden names. If the maiden name isn't given it usually meands it is an illegitimate birth.
I use FreeBMD to look for births and deaths first because it allows a search with wild cards and wider date settings then I use the GRO index to search for the likely entries I have found on FreeBMD. The GRO index only allows a date +/- 3 years either side and the gender must be entered. It isn't necessary to enter the registration district or the volume and page numbers. Some leeway is allowed with names by using the exact matches/phonetically similar variations/similar sounding variations box to the right of the name boxes but it is easier to look it up on FreeBMD first to get the exact spelling used if it is an unusual name.
You have to sign up to the site but it is free of charge to use.

He's on the 1929 electoral roll at 97 Eastern Road, Parish of Romford - Central Ward. On the 1930 electoral roll he's with Evelyn Nellie Maynard at 35 Vine Street, Parish of Romford, North Ward. This doesn't help move forward your search for parents but did notice further along the road a William Edward and Lillian Annie Rose Maynard, 11 Vine Street - coincidence perhaps?

The GRO registration of Stanley Phillip Maynard, Ongar, Dec Qtr 1905, vol 4a page 511 gives mother's maiden name Wood

    GRO birth registrations
Frederick George Maynard, Mar Qtr 1902, Ongar, 4a 537 - mother Wood
Bessie Gertrude Maynard, Sep Qtr 1903, 4a 565 - mother Wood

There are Maynard/Wood births around this period in Islington and Lewisham. have only posted Ongar.
