    Default "Distributor of Stamps"

the newspaper obit (1853) for a man in my tree calls him a "Distributor of Stamps". I googled the phrase and apparently the poet William Wordsworth had held this position in Westmorland. Do you think it means nothing more than postmaster ? I assumed it meant paper stamps but perhaps we are talking about franking stamps

Revenue stamps, I think, not postage stamps.

End column "Death of William Wordsworth" - a case of "Don't give up the day job?"

If you have access to BNA or FMP - check for "distributor of stamps" - a wealth of info.
