Alfred Wright emigrated to South Africa.
The "John Wright, musician" in the 1851 census I linked to someone who migrated to Australia. I couldn't find anything to connect him to Alfred, apart from the occupation on the census. The think the immigration records to Australia had him as a grocer. But as you said, this John Wright seems a little young to be Alfred's father. I was really hoping the occupations might help establish some link, but it hasn't led to any breakthroughs, unfortunately!

Alfred's death age of "89 years, 9 months", on 14 August 1916, even if the 89 years is inaccurate I guess we can assume he was born in a November ? Not that that helps much.

I think this is my final offer
a Jane Ashenden married a Frederick Wright at Horton Kirby, Kent, in 1854. But Horton Kirby is a long way from Dover.
