This information is all recorded on the birth certificate?

My Nan was Julia Jones born 28.10.1921.

    * father was Alfred Jones
    * mother Julia Jones, late Looney, formerly Reilly.
    * Alfred's occupation is down as Lance Corporal Mt Foot Police.
    * My Nan was born in Folkestone.....1 Warren Rd, Folkestone, Kent.

    When was the birth registered?

".. there were five of them, four girls and a boy ..my Nan, Doris, Mona, Betty and Roland. Only Betty and Roland were blood siblings."

Julia was the oldest in the family?

Do you have an age for Alfred JONES and Julia JONES, the parents?

December quarter 1921, Elham regsitration district.], mother's maiden name Reilly
All of which fits perfectly with the details on the birth certificate which Amanda already has.

Julia was born 1891/1892 in Ireland. See post #6.
No idea when Alfred was born.

I can see the entry -

    FreeBDM DecQ 1921

JONES Julia mms REILLEY Elham Vol 2a Page 1954

I am interested to know if the information on the first post, which mentions the birth certificate, means that all the details used are recorded on that document.....and not added by way of general discussion.

The details will be those given on the birth certificate.
My Nan was Julia Jones born 28.10.1921. Her father was Alfred Jones and mother Julia Jones, late Looney, formerly Reilly. Alfred's occupation is down as Lance Corporal Mt Foot Police. My Nan was born in Folkestone.
The only details omitted were the actual place of birth, which was 1 Warren Road Folkestone, and the person who registered the birth who was Julia Jones. See Amanda's post #11.

    Where are these births registered?

Nan, Doris, Mona, Betty and Roland.

Using FreeBDM - JONES with mms REILLEY 1911 -1930 -

I see possibilities for Roland, Betty and Doris with mms variations of REILLEY but no way to confirm.

I do not see anything for Mona. Are some children adopted in Ireland?.

"....Doris, Mona, Betty and Roland." Are these their exact names.

Children with births not registered in England......are born / adopted in Ireland?

    The way I read Amanda's post #12
No, I don't know any dates, there were five of them, four girls and a boy ..my Nan, Doris, Mona, Betty and Roland. Only Betty and Roland were blood siblings. They all grew up together, and considered themselves siblings, and were fortunate to have all ended up in a loving home.
was that there five children adopted into one family. The bit in bold indicates that Julia was not (knowingly or obviously) related to them, so looking for births for them with surname Jones, mother's maiden name Reilly is a waste of time.

I wondered if she may have been offered a job in Kent, with no husband and now her children deceased, she needed to support herself. I looked into Alfred Jones P7325 and found his discharge papers, Born 1885, married (no name given) pensioned out 24.3.19, and address given as Frederick St, Glasgow?. The geography doesn't fit, but I suppose you could be posted anywhere, and had no choice in the matter.

I do feel for your Nan's mum and hope you eventually track her down. As Megan already suggested your best bet may the 1921 census when it is released. If you do find Julia or Alfred there when the time comes or have a breakthrough from elsewhere, please do let us know.

Yes, you read it correctly, all these children were taken in by Aubrey and Jessie Unwin, Sadly I have no knowledge of the individual circumstances that led them to being given up, and yes, only Betty and Roland were related by blood. I know that my Nan lived in Foord Rd with her adoptive parents as a young child ... which is quite near to Warren St. One can only imagine the circumstances that may have led to my Nan being taken in. Perhaps Aubrey Unwin knew Alfred Jones through the military, maybe Jessie Unwin was in service with Julia Jones.
