You'll make it easier to help you if you tell us where (Scotland? Wales? elsewhere?) and roughly when...

I assume that you have tried Find A Grave?

Did you do any basic checks before posting?

The GRO index shows no death of a Louise Mealing in 1939.

There is a Louisa M Mealing death registered in 1940

I don't know if this helps at all but I found a death in the GRO index:

MEALING, LOUISE 84 GRO Reference: 1941 M Quarter in BRENTFORD Volume 03A Page 586

    so then on BMD

MEALING, LOUISA** WALLAM GRO Reference: 1899 J Quarter in WYCOMBE Volume 03A Page 793
"Wycombe spans the boundaries of the counties of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire"

** Recorded as Louisa and not a typing error!
    Best wishes Jill

    PS
In case you don't know and apologies if you do!
Re the Death when it says 84 - that's the age at death and re the Birth where it says
Wallam that's the mother's maiden name.

Greyhound, more info is required for us to trace the right Louise(a). Did she marry, if so when, and what's the name of her husband, was he still alive in 1939, what's her maiden name?

When and where was your friend's mother born?

Without more info we are stabbing in the dark.

Extra maths homework for you this weekend, Jill.
If someone was born in 1899 and died in 1941 they wouldn't be 84 when they died.

PAM Yes I was always bad at maths but in fact I forgot to say at the outset that I appreciated
the age was out but thought it might just help as the death date fits and perhaps the info given
to Greyhound re Louise/a birth is incorrect.
