    Default Samuel Phelps

I came across this post about a Samuel Phelps - https://www.british-genealogy.com/fo...-Phelps-family

But unfortunately he is not the one I am looking for.

Trying to find a Samuel Phelps that died in South Africa on the 7 Feb 1832, born about 1801. He married Isabella Almond on the 1 Feb 1827 at St George in Cape Town.
They had two children Mary Eliza b. 12 Aug 1831 bap.23 Aug 1831 at St George and Joseph Samuel b. 13 Nov 1827 bap. 30 Dec 1827 at St George.

Samuel Phelps was a sea captain, he sailed around the South African coast in his ship 'Mary" a coasting brig.

Thanks Eddie, it looks like it could be the Samuel Phelps I am looking for.names seam to fit with his children and having his boat called Mary. Were their ships passenger list to South Africa in the early 1830's? If I can find one with his name on it, that will verify the info. Also I think he was a crew member of a ship and that is how he got to South Africa. In 1830 he seamed to be Captain of the Ship "George the Fourth" a Cutter, carrying cargo from Rio.
