    Default Looking for record of 'mention in despatches'

    Hi. I am doing some research on wife's grandfather. He never spoke about the war but we have his service record which shows he was 'air bomber' from 18 Dec 42 to 14 Jan 45 and that he was mentioned in despatches on 14 Jan 44. We are interested to find out more about what happened on 14 Jan 44 and also more about where he might have been stationed (we think he was at St Eval early on and then at Driffield). We are waiting for a search to come back from Veterans UK so may be that will show more but any advice welcome. Thanks.
