Hi.
My Grandfather was in the Royal Engineers posted in Libya in 1942. He was captured and subsequently held in camps in Italy and Stalag XI-A before spending the rest of the war in Work Camp 29, an Iron Ore Mine at Olendorf/Oldendorf.
There appears to be some information on the web for the main POW camps (Stalags & Italian 'P.G.' camps), but I can find pretty much nothing on the work camps.
I know they were subsets of the main camps, but i'd be interested to find the location of the mine, etc. My Grandfather told me some bits about his experiences but it would be good to find out more!
