Thank you for the past successes I have had on this site. Can you please put me in the right direction again please?
My uncle served 18 months in prison for GBH. Family stories suggest he was in Wakefield Prison. I have checked the site and can employ someone to search for me. I have also checked the newspapers to see if his charge was in the media. No luck.
Name William Warner. Joined Royal Navy in Jan 1942, aged 17. Born 4 Nov 1925. Lived at 52 Derbyshire Avenue, Stretford, Lancashire. He was given Compassionate leave in 1948 from the navy although the family say it was "dishonourable".
Incident occurred in Wakefield. His mother, Miriam Warner and son Harold, both visited William in prison. I have his naval records. He joined up for 12 years and even served on submarines but deserted and was picked up by the Military Police from his mother's house in Stretford.
He is the "black sheep" of the family but a historians delight!!
Many thanks for any help.
Regards
Sue in Healesville, Victoria, Australia

The crime records that are available on line only go up to 1935 so they wouldn't include your uncle,
