Hi it's me again I was wondering is there any websites that have records dating back to 1781
as I am all so looking for a Thomas Harmer birth year abt 1781-1861,I know he was born in Upholland lancs and that he married Ann Farrimond 3rd sep 1804 either Thomas the martyr church or Wigan all saints. I know one child's name (there will be more) and that is Joseph Harmer(1818-1878) who married Ann Rotherham and I do know that they did live on canal street Wigan
That's all for now sorry for being a pest

The source that I often head for if I’don’t know what records are around is genuine.org.uk. Choose a county, go to that county’s home page and then the info is divided by general material and per parish.

Have you checked the 1851 and 1861 census?

Stop Press - that's GENUKI, not "genuine". Thank you Pam

I think it might be a while since Lesley's had to do any looking up.

I think she means Genuki. Short cut to the England part of it -
    https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng
then scroll down a bit and click on the name box of the county you require.

For the whole of the UK

Lancashire has an excellent Online Parish Clerks site.
    https://www.lan-opc.org.uk/indexp.html

    Findmypast has
    Lancashire Banns and Marriages 1538 – 1932
    Lancashire Baptisms 1538 -1917
    Lancashire Burials 1538 – 1991
plus various parish registers that you can browse under the dataset heading of Lancashire Parish Registers browse.

Just discovered that other Pamelas can type quicker than me, so I will hastily point you in the direction of
what I consider to quite a helpful post regarding useful resources in general and then scuttle off.

Pam is so right - I think it's my ipad's conviction that it knows better than me. I was in GENUKI yesterday, on my elderly ipad, no problem, but the new one knows better...
