Ooh, nice puzzle for you to piece together then Just following James & Susannah

    1901 24 Highfield Road, Sedgley
James Blower 74 Boat Unloader Barge PoB n/k
    Susan 61 b Preston, Lancs
Henry 40 Boat Unloader Barge b Sedgley
George Walker 18 Boarder Coal Miner Hewer b Sedgley

    1911 - 14 Littletons Row Coseley
Henry Bloor 72 Watchman b Hallman Cheshire **
    Susannah 68 wife b Sedgley
Henry 50 son Boatman Coal born Sedgley
George Bloor 30 Boarder Carter b Sedgley

** Although recorded as Henry on the census, the address sheet shows his name as James. They've messed up the years married/children born bit too, as both claim to have been married 40 years, but on James' line it says 4 children born 3 still living. Susannah originally said married 40 years but no children born, which has then been over-written with the information from James' section.

It looks like James died in 1919, Susannah in 1920, both Dudley RD.

OK SO I KNOW I NEED TO ORDER CERTIFICATES ETC TO CONFIRM but we think Susan was the daughter of Zachariah and Elizabeth Shore married in 1838. Zachariah was thwe son of John and a possible baptism is 1817to John and Susanna Brown on the 1851 census it gives a possible birth date as 1786 but i have 2 Johns in my tree...one born in 1783 and buried in 1786 and a second baptised in 1789 both were sons of Zacharias and Anne...whose older brother Thomas is already on my line and an ancestor of Manuel/ Tony Farnell who married Jean Turton daughter of Thomas Hill and Mary Hill who started this all off... I need to check for other possibilities and i would like to see the 1841 census for John Farnell in Drayton...

i have 2 Johns in my tree...one born in 1783 and buried in 1786 and a second baptised in 1789 both were sons of Zacharias and Anne
Neither the 1783 nor the 1789 baptisms give the name of the mother, only the father. Same for Thomas baptised 1781 - where do you get Anne from?

OK, Ive found the marriage. I'm still not sure who you're looking for in the 1841 & 1851 census. Here is the other John

ADDED - can you add some rough DoBs etc so I can follow who is who - thanks

You say you're looking for John Farnell in Drayton in 1841 & 1851 and that he's "the father of Zachariah who was the father of Susan", meaning anyone trying to help has to go back over to get dates.

From the 1851 census Zachariah was born c1816, and there is only one baptism that matches, parents given as John, a tailor, and Elizabeth, however, all of the other baptisms in Drayton to John around that time period have the mother as Susan(nah), so I think 'Elizabeth' is simply an error, and the 1841 & 1851 census I posted are 'your' John, Zach's father.

19 Dec 1816 Jane d/o John & Susan Farnell, Bell Lane, Tailor
24 Aug 1817 Zachariah s/o John & Elizth Farnell, Drayton, Tailor
29 Nov 1818 William s/o John & Susannah Farnell, Drayton, Tailor
11 Mar 1821 James s/o John & Susannah Farnel, Little Drayton, Tailor
15 Aug 1824 Maria d/o John & Susannah Farnel, Little Drayton, Tailor
14 May 1826 George s/o John & Susan Farnell, Little Drayton, Tailor
30 Nov 1828 Charles s/o John & Susan Farnell, Little Drayton, Tailor
Plus, not sure where this fits in:
19 Sep 1831 Sarah d/o John & Ann Farnell, Drayton, Tailor

No, I couldnt find a marriage between James Blower & Susannah Farnell, which may be why Mary used the Farnell surname.
