Re Thomas and Charles in census and Mary as their mother. This is what messes with my family tree info.

The census records the relationship to the Head of the house who is Charles. Mary is his wife but not necessarily the mother of all the children. When you know first wife Johanna died, you look for Charles’s second marriage which looks like Mary CHASE in 1903, although after the birth of Henry, his birth was registered as TAYLOR with mms CHASE.

Yes, I’ve found that census. I wonder if Charles R and Thomas were actually with them then as they were put into a Catholic orphanage after their mother died in 1898.

Hi Sumi, yes they make out Johannas children, Charles and Thomas are Marys’. I’m sure I’ve found them all in the poor house too.
