    Default MANTON, Albert Joseph b1884 - WW1

    Mis-filed as MARTIN in the WW1 Service Records (WO 363):

    Albert Joseph MANTON joined the Loyal North Lancs Regiment on 19 January 1905, declared age 19y 10m (born Shoreditch), and served as Private 8246 until 1915, when he was discharged (wounded).

    His medal card is interesting. As well as the Victory & British, it noted that he had the "clasp and roses" dating from 23 Aug 1920 and gives a disembarcation date of 22 Sep 1914. If anyone wants to chase this up, there's several reference numbers.
