I believe that this man is recorded as EDWARD MARSDEN in the WW1 Service Records (WO 363). If anyone finds differently, please let me know!

The papers are badly damaged, but the form completed by his mother, showing immediate relatives, is legible and implies that her maiden name was ELLIOT - and the GRO Index does not show a birth for an Edward. (Her daughters have the same names but are declared as several years younger than in the Register.)

Joined the Border Regt on 3 Sept 1914, declared age 30y 9m, born Wigton Cumberland.
Died of wounds 1916.

Mother: Martha.
Brothers: Elliot (c1887), Arnold (c1892) & Joseph (c1895).
Sisters: Edith SMITH (c1883), Emily (c1890), Martha (c1893). Either Emily or Martha is living in Sydney, Australia in 1919.
