Default Bibby Pott in the Parish of Bootle, Cumberlan

One of my ancestors' marriage records states:

30 March 1657. Marriage of James Lewthwaite, s. of Richard Lewthwaite of the Millhawe in Whicham and Isabell Walton of Bibby pott in the pish. of Bootle.

Does anyone know where exactly or what Bibby Pott was/is?

    Many thanks.

Firstly Bootle is and was not in Cumberland. Bootle is part of Liverpool and so would have been in Lancashire.

Secondly if you do an internet search for "Bibby Pott Bootle" whilst I did not get any exact hits I did find a reference to a Bibby Lane, and that set me to wondering whether or not Pott was actually Port as Bootle is on the river Mersey?

Issabell d. of John Walton, 16 Mar 1621*

This is the old calendar - year is 1622. This would make this Isabel about 35 at marriage.

As a former resident of Bootle near Liverpool, I can assure you there definitely are two of them, one near Liverpool and one in Cumberland. The company I worked for used to get all sorts of mis-addressed mail, including the wrong Bootle, plus "Bottle" and "Bootleg".

Well, J Bibby and Sons certainly had a business in Bootle and at one time had a boat called
the 'James Bibby' which they used to deliver cattle feed etc to other ports.
