    Default Royal Marines band 1846

    Hi guys, can you help?

I am trying to find out about an ancestor who was a musician from a young age (as was most of his family) and left his home in Shropshire aged 18 in 1846 to go to Woolwich in Kent to join the Royal Marines.
I found a national archive. gov.uk record folios 645-648 that says Samuel Matthews, born Shropshire Attestation papers to serve in RM at Woolwich 1846 age 18, Discharged 1846, reason not given. Transferred to Drummer 94th Company 1846.

If I get this document from National Archives will it be informative?
Can I look somewhere else to find out about his service?
Where can I find out more about a drummer in the RMs at about that time?

    Thank you Steve Matthews.

I think if he was discharged from RM it wont be as a drummer in RM but the 94th Co will be a separate unit
I have one who joined RM and was discharged as not being suitable material to be a Marine! there wasn't a huge amount of anything else except his birth and address. Some things have more info than others
I have looked on Findmypast and Ancestry but there doesn't seem to be anything in there.
