I am going to have to divest myself of many research books, some local to Dorset and other not specified to an area. Does anybody know of an online site that caters for this (apart from E Bay of course).
Just wondering as I have hunted and cannot find anything.
Many thanks,
Marion

I sell books for a charity shop (I volunteer). I use a site called Ziffit but they don't specialise in any particular subject. You can enter the books (by the bar code or ISBN number). If you don't want to accept what they offer you don't have to. There is no postage involved, I drop boxes off at the local Collect+ supermarket. There are also other sites - We Buy Books, Music Magpie, Sell It Back. None specialise though.

Thanks for that idea Sue, I live in Western Australia so that idea is not possible, and I have had a look at the reviews of Ziffit - not terribly good I must admit!!
I was on a Woodwork Forum (by chance!) and they had several sections, besides information about various types of tools there was also a "Sale" section with different sections - Power Tools, Hand Tools etc and I suppose that is what I was hoping there might be on a genealogy site. Shame really as I am sure there are a lot of us that would have publications that we no longer need.
Perhaps it's time for someone to set one up!!

would it be worth contacting the Dorset Family History Society to see if they would be interested ? I am sure you have already thought of that.

Thanks Wimsey, yes I do know of the Dorset Family History Society but not all of them are related to Dorset. There are some Kent ones and things like "The Parish Chest", "Ancestral Trails" etc!
I think it may have to be E Bay!!
By the way, with your name - I don't suppose you are related to any Wimsetts - they were my husband's side of the tree!

You might try Bookbarn International. Although based in UK they may have some useful contacts in your area.
Mr Google has their details.

Have you tried contacting one of the genealogy societies in Western Australia where you are they may well have members who may be interested or be able to advise you

There do not seem to be many societies in Perth, there is the main one but not the number of minor societies as there are in the the UK. I belonged to one in Mandurah at one time and there was very little call for books, which I found a little surprising. I may contact the main Perth one and ask their advice but at this stage it does look as though EBay is going to have to be the answer - unless the Dorset Family History Society comes up with some ideas - I shall wait to hear from them as we..
Thank you for your thoughts.

Don't forget the price of international postage... I recently paid more for the postage than the price of the book (it was very hard to find).
