    Default Royal Navy.H M A Depot, London

What do the initials stand for and what function would this unit be serving in 1913?

If its a Depot then it may well be an accounting base, although this would normally still be referred to as HMS [something], even though it was a shore establishment. What is the context?

I think the full title might be His Majesty's Royal Australian Naval Depot, which was located at Australia house in The Strand.

There are references to this in some online Australian documents, e.g.

Search for the phrase HMA depot give a number of refs, which show it to be an abbreviation of "His Majesty's Australian "

    Thanks. That makes perfect sense.
It is on the record of a seaman who agreed to join the Royal Australian Navy for 5 years on 26 Oct 1912. His record reads - Victory 26 Oct-31Dec 1912, HMA London Depot 1 Jan-17Jan 1913. Melbourne 18Jan 1913.
