Default Extension to GRO death certificate index

Information courtesy of the Lincolnshire Rootsweb Mailing List:

On their own site, the GRO have extended their death index (which currently end in 1957) by adding the years 1984 to 2019.
    gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp

Please note that deaths 1958-1983 inclusive are not included, though they are available on FMP and Ancestry, and to a large extent on FreeBMD.
The present GRO death index available on FMP and Ancestry ends in September quarter 2007 and December 2006, respectively.

Just seen that FMP now have death registrations up to (and including) 2017.

I've just noticed that they've also got the Probate Calendar 1960 - 2019.

Unless I'm looking in the wrong place, these later death records aren't the GRO indexes, but sourced (in the case of one I looked at) from Wilmington Millennium Ltd. I believe they were compiled from newspaper obituaries, funeral notices etc, but they're certainly not the GRO.

I've just looked for three deaths that I know of in the last 10 years, and none of them are included.

That is correct they have been collated from various sources, newspapers, wills, obits etc. in an attempt to provide the information.

Apologies for misleading everyone re the death registrations on FMP. I admit that I thought it a little strange that they only went up to 2017 when the GRO site goes up to 2019, but never bothered to check further.
