Yes, the Eliza birth Reg B057652 is who I am interested in. I have a copy of her birth cert - not sure how to attach here? Her father John is a chemical work labourer on her birth cert. I think this family is different to the other John ephilston (wife Mary Clark).
Have you looked at the links provided by Dundee10 at #8? To me they look good, what are your thoughts? As Dundee pointed out the Eliza in your ancestry was baptised in High Church, Glasgow, Lanark in 1857, the Eliza you are following was born in Wiston, Lanarkshire abt 1857 and is the daughter of John E Thompson and Mary (not Maria) Clark

That's thrown a spanner in the works as the William son of John and Maria in workington, Cumberland was born about 1853, however age at death isn't always correct as it depends how well the informant knew the deceased.

The informant knows William well enough to record given name and family name for William's mother and father. That should encourage you to believe that there would be good information on this death record.

What is on the THOMPSON-JOHNSTON marriage document.
What church do they marry in?
    Who are the witnesses?
How does Eliza name her father....(dec)?....what occupation for her father?

The marriage certificate is on Kate's Ancestry tree.
Eliza Thompson and Peter Johnston married in the register office district of Tynemouth
The witnesses are John and Sarah Mary Moon
Eliza's father is entered as John Thompson a mason

I think the witnesses are Peter's sister and her husband
    Marriages Mar 1867, Cockermouth Cumberland, 10b 643.

OK, Kate. Thank you. It does mean Mary born IOM is not your ancestor. Your ancestors are John Thompson and Maria Duff both born Ireland and living in Workington, Workington makes sense as it's the area in which Eliza married Peter Johnston.

Sorry I gave misinformation Workington isn't in the Tynemouth district, however, I do think Eliza was living with her family in Workington in 1861 and 1871.

I’m a bit confused. So Eliza’s death cert states she was born in Glasgow to John Thompson (a mason) and Maria Duff (84yrs old when she died).
The birth record I have is off the Scotland’s People website ref 644/2. If this is not her birth, any ideas on her birth record please? Thankyou for all the help.
