    I have just been re-reading the whole thread and realise that one might think that there is a conflict with the age given for Sarah in the censuses and the date of 1822 marriage. Prior to 1929 the legal age for males to marry was 14 and for females 12.

    However of course that doesn't mean that marriage is the marriage of John's parents.
