Hello from Western Australia

Hello, I’m in Perth Western Australia and trying to find information on my maternal grandfather’s war medals. I’ve managed to obtain my paternal grandfather’s WWII medals and would like to find out about my maternal grandfather’s.

His name was Bert Frost and He served in the British army in WW1 and everything I have found is handwritten and very hard to decipher. He was born in 1893. His regimental number was 675201

If anyone has any tips on how I could find out what medals he was actually awarded it would be wonderful.

Was his name Albert or Burt? Any ideas where he was born also what regiment he was in?

Hi there, he was born in Bedfordshire, lived in Luton, his correct name was Bert and not Albert - strange for those times.
He was a bombardier in the royal artillery

He was awarded the Victory medal and the British Medal.

On his Medal Rolls Index Card it says:

Victory (T.F.) R.F.A./IIIB

British " "

Then there is a note which says Swiss List RA/4849.

Sorry I cannot help with the notes but sure someone else on the forum will know what the T.F. and the Swiss List is.

Found another record, this is a page certifying that the individuals named are entitled to the Medal or Medals

Acting Bombadier

Remarks: Disc: 15/3/19 PARA 392 xvia K.R.

He was in the Royal Artillery (Royal Horse Artillery & Royal Field Artillery)

I'm looking to see if I can find his service records but no luck so far. Possibly his records were amongst those destroyed during WW2.

There is a small piece written in The National Roll of the Great War, 1914-1918 found on Ancestry which states an address in Park Rd West,Luton. It doesn’t have a regimental number. If this is the same man it tells a little of where he served and operations he was involved in.

Does the address have any connection to your man?
