    Think you'll find that's Munnings.

Will tie in with birth registration of William Percy, mother's maiden name Munnings.
And marriage of William Jordan and Caroline Munnings in 1879 at church of St James the Great in Bethnal Green.

    Census reference RG11/1393 folio 60 page 45

Did you have a senior moment when you posted this, Sandy?
Not sure if you've got the wrong names, the wrong address, or the wrong dataset.

The 1939 Register (not electoral) entry I find is
    William P Jordan born 1880
    Florence Jordan born 1885
    Gabrielle I Jordan born 1918
living at 5/98 Anderton Street, Birmingham which ties in with the address on William's death certificate in 1949.

When I looked at the actual page it is for -

Ladywood Ward. Polling district NP. (380)

First no on page is 181 Rw Ow - Middleton Harriet - 98 Anderton Street - cont

so could Jessamine Place and Islington Place be side Streets off Anderson Street.

Where I live in xxxx Avenue we have xxxx Place and xxxx Gardens as side Streets.

sorry my spelling mistake you are right

Could they have been Theatrical Acts as his William's occupation is Negro Comedian and Caroline is a Vocalist on the 1881 Census.

Ouch, toothache can be painful and stop you thinking straight. Hope you can soon get it sorted.
Have to say that's a brilliant find you've made with those electoral rolls on Ancestry. Linda wants to check out the 1919 entry for William in the Absent Voters List. He seems to have lived in Anderton Street/Jessamine Place for many years.
Note that Florence is William's wife, not sisiter.

Probably not streets as such - might just be large blocks of flats - but certainly something similar.
It's really interesting that those electoral rolls exist for 1939 because the the general understanding is that there were no electoral rolls taken during the war. The ones for the Ladywood division of Birmingham were dated 16 October 1939, and are said to have been published in 1940.

I know, but those occupations are at total odds with their marriage certificate where William's a shopman and Caroline has no occupation listed.
Can't find them in the 1891 census.
