    Default The Military General Service Medal (MGSM)

    hi one and all,

    Can any learned person out there in History land, please explain the "FO" on the The Military General Service Medal (MGSM) available to claimants in 1847, looking at Samuel Green 95th Rifes, he has ten clasps and I am struggling with this one....nearest I can come up woth is Ferrol.

    any ideas

    It is probably for the Battle_of_Fuentes_de_Oņoro (3-5 May 1811) in the Peninsular war.

    Are you sure it is 'FO'?
    A commercial site has a list of his medals(by initials) starting with 'FD'. Either way it is probably as in my previous post. It is sometimes written 'Fuentes D'Onoro'
