I have a Rosina Isabel Colbo[u]rne, born in 1885. I couldn't find her marriage, but I did find a Rosina Wells married in 1903. The age is about correct for marriage, but the Wells surname is that of her sister-in-law, Ethleen Alice Wells. Did this purposeful swapping of names happen?

"almach": Thank you for the quick reply.
I, too, spotted the 1911 Census showing Isabel West.
That helped me find her birth registration on the GRO website:
COLBOURNE, Rosina Isabel
Birth 1885 D QTR
Reg. MEDWAY
vol. 02A, p. 552
mmn: BULL
Then I went to look in FreeBMD for a possible marriage of Isabel to somebody with the last name West.
I found the following entry for Rosina, but with a maiden name of Wells:
WELLS, Rosina
Marriage 1903 M QTR
Reg. POPLAR
vol. 01C, p. 749
It would have been nice if it was simple and I could have found the marriage of Rosina Isabel Colborne to someone called West.
There is also the following reference in the regeistrations:
WEST, Ernest
Marriage 1903 M QTR
Reg. POPLAR
vol. 01C, p. 749
In such cases, it MAY indicate they married each other.
You appear to have access to more detailed information. Is it possible there are two Rosina WELLS?
Is it possible for you to see what the entry for Ernest West says?
All said and done, I'm really anxious to find the marriage and death for Rosina Isabel.
Shee seems to be a difficult one to find.
If I can get the reference data for the registrations, I can track down the actual certificates.

Hi History_Hunter,
Marriages: Poplar Mar 1903, vol 1c, page 749.
Four people are listed on the page (two couples)
Albert Ward/Rosina Wells, details supplied at #2
Ernest West/Lillian Marie Palmer
I know those are the correct pairings as both marriage certificates are on Ancestry in the database: "London, England, Church of England Marriages and Banns, 1754-1932"

Hi Alma;
Thank you for checking for me.
Sometimes the ref. no. pairing "trick" works and sometimes it doesn't.
Sure was hoping to find this particular Colborne-West marriage.
By way of explanation...
I'm between subscriptions to genealogy sites at the momemnt.
I've tried Ancestry for 6 months and am now considering trying FindMyPast.
I have a largely English and Scottish ancestry on my Mum's side.
FindMyPast, because of it's affiliation with TNA, might be a greater help in my research.

There is a New York passenger list in 1910 for Rosina I Colborne (transcribed on Ancestry as Rosina S Colborne and on FMP as Rosina I Calbourne) aged 25, nearest relative or friend in UK: Ellen Colbourne, 46 Garden Avenue, St Margaret (the same address as the 1911 census. Going to Mrs Bernard Sain?, Sister?, 351 E 57th St New York.
ADDED: Still looking for Rosina but Florence Colborn married John B Saur in 1908, Manhattan

This is definitely the correct person!
Her sister married John or George Bernard SAUR on 13 April 1908 in Manhattan, New York. I found her trip to the U.S. and the marriage registration. thank you! This going somewhere!

Looks like Rosina moved to the States, too, and got married. This explains a lot. Thanks Jomot1.
Could you give me the ship name and month for the ship Rosina took? It will make it possible for me to find the passenger list.
Alma and you have been a BIG help.

Sorry, I must have forgotten to mention the ship in my excitement at finding her! It was the Majestic, arrived 21 Apr 1910.
