Buying the marriage certificate should give the details of their fathers. Also the witnesses could be family members too.

Hi emeltee, I haven't found a marriage ban record, but have located a marriage index record. There are other household members listed but none with the Dunn or butler surname.

It seems Ellen was baptised twice and with conflicting birth dates. I wonder if one parent was Wesleyan and the other RC.

Ellen Butler, born 2 Nov 1830, Liverpool, Lancaster
Baptism 25 Dec 1830, Denomination: Wesleyan
Father: George Butler; Mother: Mary Farmer

Ellen Butter, born 26 Oct 1830
Baptism Date: 15 Nov 1830, St Anthony's, Liverpool
Father: George Butter; Mother: Mary Farmer

John Butler, born 15 Aug 1828
Baptised 29 Aug 1828, St Werburgh's, Chester, Cheshire
Father: George Butler; Mother: Mary Farmer
