Does anyone know if it was only British soldiers that were stationed in the Catterick Camp. I am interested in the time around 1927 thanks, Roberta

Sorry to be a pain but Catterick is in North Yorkshire, not Durham.

A warm welcome to Brit-gen.
Catterick, in 1927, was the centre of much interest. Speculation afoot was that it was to replace Sandhurst and the Staff College at Camberley. It was also subtitled "the Aldershot of the North" by some.
Can you expand on " ... only British soldiers ...". What soldiers did you have in mind?"dyfal donc a dyr y garreg"

I was wondering if there would have been soldiers from other countries stationed there. Say Canadian, French etc. My mother in laws father was apparently a soldier in the camp ( and thats all we know about him) and I was just trying to narrow down where he may have been from. She was born in Sept. 1927
