Joseph was 23 on 05/02/1866 his father was also a lath render. Joseph and his wife were living together at the time of marriage witnesses were her brother and her mum

So that's a 'no' then! On his 2nd marriage he said Joseph Williams, Lath Cleaver, so he’s not even consistent with a forename.

Do you think he would have lied to the court regarding his place of birth? I suppose I could try and link Joseph and John smiths in Leicester from 1842-1866

The Leicester reference was from the possible 1871 census reference I found. I don't think the court record mentioned Leicester - just the marriage in Warrington.

There are possibly 16 Joseph Smiths born to John Smiths in 1842. That is of course if he was telling the truth on his first wedding
