    Default NARRACOTT, Arthur George b1888 - WW1

This man's name was written MARRACOTT on enlistment, so he is "mis-filed" in the WW1 Service Records (WO 363):

Arthur George NARRACOTT enlisted September 1914, declared age 26y 6m, born Paignton.
He was attested as George Arthur MARRACOTT (the surname is corrected by 1919, but forenames are still reversed.)
Served with the Royal Engineers (Regt No. 43634) until discharge in 1919.

    Home address: Stoke Gabriel, Devon.
Next of Kin: Mrs S COLLINS.

There's only 1 Arthur George N. b. 1888 Devonshire in the 1911. He was a carpenter living in Totnes.
Lived with parents James (b. 1849, Stoke Gabriel, mason) and May Fanny Narracott (ms Crees b. 1869, Totnes). They had 15 kids, 8 still living.
Only 1 sib listed in 1911, Frederick John (1884, Stoke Gabriel, mason). He was 15576 Pte Frederick John Narracott of 2 Btn, the Devonshires, d. 31 Oct 1916, buried Grove Town Cemetery, Meault. Married to Elizabeth S Narracott of Crediton.

The 1891 lists 7 children with James & May: Robert E (17), James (in 1901, 22), William H (15), James (12), Thomas N. (10), Frederick J (7), Arthur G (3). Ada M. (5 mths). None of the others are to be found on CWHC site.

    Ada married Gerald Randall.
I think that Mrs S Collings was Susan Harriet Narracott who married Walter Collings 1892 Totnes.
Family Search (which consistently lists May as Mary) gives Susan H as b. 1871
Also list Ellen M (1872), John (1877)these 3 all coming from the 1881.
    There's a granddaughter, Daisy E Collings, with James & Mary in 1901.
