    Question David James Bowns Will

I wonder if anyone can help or point me in the right direction.

David James Bowns born 26 Oct 1936 Salisbury Wiltshire and died 6 Nov 2016 Alvor Faro Portugal I would like to be able to see his will or what ever it is called in Portugal.

Using a earch engine for "obtaining copy of a Portuguese will" didn't bring up a definitive answer though I did find that there are 'open wills' and 'closed wills'. Whether that affects your ability to get a copy of the will I, again, don't know.

I would suggest you either contact the Portuguese Embassy in London or the British Enbassy in Lisbon.

Just because he died in Portugal does not mean that his estate was probate there.

For instance if he was a UK Resident then it would have been probate in the UK.

I did check the UK Probate Calendar but no David Bowns, 2016 onwards.

Must admit that I made (the sometimes fatal!) mistake of assuming that David was resident in Portugal when he died. Reading a little bit about Portuguese wills means that if you have assets in Portugal inheriting isn't as straight-forward as in the UK.

Yes David bowns did live in Alvor Portugal for at least 20 years prior to his death in 2016, he had retire at the age of 59, he bulit a house in Monchique Portugal (excuse spelling) and sold that to live in Alvor, any ideas would be most welcome.
