Default What did a Covert do?

I was looking through "A Calendar Of The Prisoners Tried At The Assizes For The Year 1870" for Winchester (HO140 series) and noticed an Elizabeth Hearn waiting trial on a charge of bigamy whose occupation is listed as COVERT.

The form is typeset so its not a question of trying to read old handwriting. Any ideas what one of those was?

Perhaps a shortened version of 'feme covert', a medieval description of a married woman.

Literally, a covered woman, one protected by marriage.
