Default Mary Ann Duff nee Thompson

I am looking for information on a Mary Ann Duff after 1917.

Mary Ann Thompson was born in 1880 and married Thomas Edward Duff in 1898 in Gateshead. They had 4 children, John William, Matthew Robert, Heny and Mary. Thomas was killed in WW1 on 16 August 1917.

Does anyone have any information on Mary after this date?

A Mary A Duff married a William Bell in 1921 in Gateshead, but whether its the lady you are looking for I don't know, you would have to purchase the marriage certificate to ascertain that.

As a place from which to start our search Mary Thompson's baptism gives her birth date as 22 Sep 1880 and her baptism on 18 Oct 1880 at Gateshead, Durham.
On Thomas Edward's UK, Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects, his widow Mary A on the 21 Sept was given 4 pounds 17 shillings and 4 pence then on 12 November 1919 she was given 11 pounds. She is just entered as Mary A, widow, no other surname given so we may assume that at this date she had not remarried.

More basic data - 20332 Pte TE Duff died at Passchendaele. At the time of his death he was a member of 9 Bn Royal Irish Fusiliers. He was originally buried at map ref D.19.a.30.25. but moved to Tyne Cot after the war when the cemeteries were organised. This is all the information that CWGC have on him, which suggests that they may not have been in contact with his family. Mary Ann might have moved before War's end. His medal card does not mention family.
He is mentioned on the Irish Casualties of WW1, but that may just be because of his regiment - he gives his birthplace as Gateshead in the 1911.
I see that they had 3 sons - try looking for them (their surnames won't have changed on marriage) - you may get a clue as to where the family were.
If you get to the "grasping at straws stage" have a look at the counties on the Scottish side of the Border - people behaved more as Borderers and moved freely back and forth as it suited them.
