Have just received the service records of my father in law and they are disappointing. The brevity of the information, several times repeated over ten pages, leaves us with less information than before. He was in the Royal Engineers, went to Egypt, wounded during he first week second battle of Alamein but no info about injuries or where it took place. Returned to UK and gets injured in motor vehicle accident and spent four months in hospital. Back to Egypt on discharge with medical category c2. End of war is discharged with a record of exemplary - but there is a paragraph on one of the record sheets redacted. The only reason for redaction from these records is due to rehabilitation of offenders act! He has been dead for thirty odd years for crying out loud.
