Mis-filed (and indexed as Marples) in the WW1 Service Records (WO 363):
George MEEKS, home address Old Lenton, Nottingham, enlisted on 31 August 1915 (declared age 27y 5m) and was discharged in 1919.
Regiments & Numbers are confusing - he began as 21091 Leicesters (or perhaps the Sherwood Foresters). Transferred to the DLI, KOYLI, and finally South Staffords (48265).
Married EMILY HALL in December 1908, at Lenton Church.
Daughter MIRIAM born July 1912.

The only corresponding entry on the 1911 shows that George was a general lab in a dye & bleach works. Born and resident in Old Lenton, age 24. Emily 21, born Langwith. According to the form they had Thomas Harold age 2 and Rachel age 3 mths, both b. Nottingham.
Oddly, his medal card only mentions 48265, S.Staffs, and only the British medal.
