Searching for the last known address and origins of Thomas Rea. I have found transcribed information from a passenger list 1860 listing Thomas Rea as a 23 year old single person quoted as a farm labourer to earn 2/10 per quarter. I believe he was an assisted Immigrant having been offered farm employment.
Information recorded : 22nd emigration ship to the Cape, John Masterman, embarked Southampton, sailed 25th March 1860.

I will also follow up with the Cape Archives from where the above information was obtained.
Thank You

If you have a look at those passenger lists you will also see a John and Deborah REA arriving in 1860 on the Sedgemoor. This couple also lived in Grahamstown and had a daughter baptised in 1863 with one of the sponsors being Martha REA. Perhaps John was related to Thomas?

There is a death in 1902 for a Deborah Abraham JAPP/JUPP, late REA, formerly ABRAHAMS.

This leads to a marriage in Ireland which is indexed on FamilySearch:
John McGOWAN or REA
Deborah ABRAHAM
11 October 1853
Drumcree, Lurgan, Armagh
Fathers: James REA and William ABRAHAM
This would be be the civil marriage record:
Name: DEBORAH ABRAHAM (also an identical entry for John REA)
Date of Event: 1853
Group Registration ID: N/R
SR District/Reg Area: Lurgan
Returns Year: 1853
Returns Quarter: 1
Returns Volume No: 7
Returns Page No: 534
This record is not yet digitised.

This is Thomas Rea I've been searching. There is the Macgowan connection. Thank you again.
And also thank you for research on Deborah and John as after the christening in 1863 they seemed to have vanished. I can bring the families together now.Last edited by Maureen Coleen; 28-08-2019 at 3:40 PM. Reason: Add additional comment
