This may fall more into the area of electoral history than genealogical research, but...

While making a documentary about the former football manager, referee and TV commentator Arthur James "Jimmy" Jewell, I have become intrigued by his first wife, Dorothy Augusta Jewell (nee Cockle).

She appears in the electoral registers in 1919, 1920 and 1921 with an "O" for occupational qualification for both parliamentary and local elections, despite the fact she was under 30 at the time (she was born in September 1893). Could women under 30 vote with an occupational qualification at this point? I was under the impression no women under 30 could vote in the UK until later in the 1920s.
