Sorry, I wasn't suggesting that this was your Jemima, but I did wonder if the father, Samuel, was a relative perhaps. Its very tenuous though.

Just pondering some other possibilities, and it’s a bit tenuous again but does provide another possible link to Baptists. A witness to John & Jemima’s marriage was John Clark Larwill, and when he married Sarah Stockell later the same year, John & Jemima were witnesses. He is on the list of long term inmates of the workhouse at Wokingham, Berkshire in 1861 and is on the census there under his initials as aged 81 born Lewes, Sussex
Searching for him turned up someone called Onesimus John Clarke Larwill born 10 May 1824 and whose birth was recorded in 1837 in the Register of Births at the Baptist Chapel in the Parish of Lewes. The father was Jeremiah, and four more of his children were recorded at the same time.

Thank you. Can you tell me how I can try to find Jemima then using Samuel here? There are Claytons in London area and I did do a Wimbish research some years ago as a number of people have her born there in 1781, but I believe that when I found that Jemima she was a twin and I discovered that both of the twins died aged 2!

Its no different to searching any others. A website called BMD registers (part of The Genealogist)is specifically for non-conformist records, but they no longer have exclusivity on them so the same information is now on the other sites too.

The record set on Ancestry seems to be England & Wales, Non-Conformist and Non-Parochial Registers, 1567-1970,
