Default ARTIST REGINALD CYRIL WEBB HEADE

    Hello British Genealogy

Please could you advise why probate has taken two years and the estate went to the county treasurer and children's officer

I believe commercial artist Reginald Cyril Webb Heade was illegitimate, perhaps Reginald wanted his legacy to be left to vulnerable children

Can’t see a marraige for him to either a Lila or anyone else. Do you have his death cert? What does that say?

    No I couldn't find a marriage either

His birthday is mentioned on his 1917 baptism, why so late to be baptised when born in 1901

I wonder if travelers were passing through in 1901 or if there was an encampment at West Ham to meet father James Heade

I wonder if something childbirth related happened to Lilly and that's why his estate was given to the children's officer

I believe Lily died in 1951 aged 40 in Ealing

Probate was not granted to the County Treasurer and the Children's Officer. Administration (limited) was granted to them. That's an entirely different matter.

Administration is granted when someone dies interstate ie without making a Will. I have not seen the expression administration (limited) before, and wonder perhaps if it might indicate that authorities were not able to identify relatives and so the local authority had to organise his funeral and were granted a limited remit to sort out his estate. However I am sure that there may be others who know more than me.

With regards to his baptism he may have needed to show he was baptised for a job, or maybe he simply felt the urge as one of my brothers did when he was 62 and lying in intensive care!
